The Team

Dan Lane

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Our founding partner has a long history of being at the forefront of technology and business with a proven track record of having a transformative effect on the growth of any business he is involved in; whether it’s a £600m multinational or small early stage startup. When he’s not in meetings he can be found sailing in the Solent with the Andrew Cassell Foundation, a charity that Dan is proud to serve as Chairman.

Jill Sharp

Chief Operations Officer

Jill began her career in marine engineering, working alongside the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, managing maintenance for their vessels. She then went on to develop key IT processes in both the investment and aviation aerospace industries, focussing on implementation and compliance. Before joining Starboard, Jill worked as a consultant, providing crucial technical implementation, presales training, design and delivery. Her wealth of experience in these areas make her an important asset to the team. Jill enjoys spending time with her family and practising yoga and pilates.

Will Boyce

Chief Technical Officer

With a CV listing several Fortune 500 companies, The Syngenta Foundation, and most recently a large IoT hardware service provider; Will is ideally suited to lead our development team. Will specialises in large-scale architecture and DevOps engineering but when he isn’t hunched over a dark terminal he can be found enjoying craft beer, eating pizza, smoking meats, or cheering on his beloved Liverpool FC.

Jon Slator

Chief Design Officer

Jon is an award winning designer who through his 15 year career has worked with brands at many different stages from the well established such as Hugo Boss and Coca-Cola to those who were just starting out like Ecotricity and Gravity Industries. Jon’s mission is to build strong brands for our portfolio companies and manage every aspect of the look and feel of our products with an emphasis on usability and ease of access. When he’s not standing at his desk Jon can be found rowing, cycling, climbing, and rollerblading with his family.

Hannah Lawes

Chief Marketing Officer

After 8 years working in the yachting industry and her wide range of marketing & event management experience, Hannah has the inside knowledge and practical skills that make her the ideal person to head up our marketing department. Having seen the need for it first-hand, her mission is to bring Starboard Card to the yachting sector. When she’s not signing off on advertising deals, you can find her snowboarding or growing food in her garden.

Ellie New

Marketing Executive

Ellie started her career in Digital Marketing with the RYA, progressing through various roles within the company. She went on to broaden her skills and further her qualifications with the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Ellie is an accomplished Marketing Executive who has worked in a number of different sectors, including property and mental health and is now an essential part of the Starboard Team. She enjoys travel and walks with her fiancé and dog.

Sophie Stevens
